Coconut Oil, Why it's so amazing for you and why I love it

Coconut (halved)

Over the past year I have come to absolutely LOVE coconut oil! It is so delicious, nourishing and can be used in so many different ways. A few years ago I was told that it was good for you and that it could help you lose weight. So, I thought, well who doesn't want to lose weight? I bought a small jar and used it occasionally. I couldn't really get past the price. So I kept it on my self but didn't use it much. One day I came a across a recipe for fudge that called for coconut oil, I was hooked. I started doing reading and realized just how good it is for you. Now I use it everyday in everything from toothpaste to bread! My favorite place to buy coconut oil is Mountain Rose Herbs. I buy it a gallon at a time and save at least $40 buying it in bulk instead of individual jars. They sell two different verities, refined and unrefined. Both are certified organic, if you are using coconut oil solely for cosmetic purposes then refined coconut oil is the way to go, it is considerably cheaper in price. If you want to consume coconut oil then you need to go with the unrefined because the refined oil is not suitable for consumption.

Coconut oil is a highly saturated oil derived from the the coconuts of the coconut palm tree. It has been used by natives in tropical locations for hundreds of years with excellent health. Studies show that so soon as western food were added to their diet, their health declined. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-microbial. It is even good to use as a sun block. My friend, Brittney adds it to her daughters' baths to help protect her girls' skin from the sun. Her youngest even prefers to eat a spoonful of coconut oil as a reward for using the potty over a piece of candy.
